I will be taking just one class this semester; painting three. In this class I am getting to choose what I want to paint for the semester. As this is a nice thing, it also comes with lots of work and choices that mold what happens for the rest of the semester. I have to turn in my proposal for what I will paint on Tues. I will need to have as detailed of a description for what I will be painting for the semester. I have chosen to base each painting off a song, and try to capture the emotion on canvas. Yes, these will all be abstract. I know most of you are not a fan, but maybe you will be pleasantly surprised when I get to the end and you all get to see the final result. :) I have five paintings all of which can be no smaller than 24x30. This will be a challenge, as I have not painted anything that large. I am not only painting for this class, I will be reading lots of art journals and writing four one page papers over an article I've read. I will also be keeping a journal about my paintings, and at some point in the semester the class will go to a museum. This is a short summery of what my semester looks like. Other than this, I will also be working 40 hours a week, still in the mail room, informing people that the return address goes in the upper left hand corner of the envelope and that the recipients address goes in the middle of the envelope, and of coarse, that it does matter where you put a stamp.
What else has been going on? Well, to be perfectly honest, not much. I did get to go to Ft. Worth on Sat. and met up with Holls and Maddy for lunch at Jake's (hamburger place). We then went to The Kimball Art Museum. Most of the art on exhibit is of the classical nature, at least the free portion of the museum is. We did not pay for the other exhibit. After that, back to the hotel where Holls and Aaron where staying, because Aaron had the ACS (American Chemical Society) conference and it was a free stay for them. Pretty nice hotel. We didn't want to pay for parking so we ended up parking about sixish blocks away and walking. I carried the car seat, and wow, that thing gets heavy. They had a Starbucks in the hotel, so we got something to drink and went up to their room and sat around a bit waiting for Maddy to take a nap; never happened. We then went across the street to the Ft. Worth Water Gardens. That is a really neat place to go to. We walked around a bit and then Holls and Maddy went back to the room and I came back to the house. It was a fun day. :)Sorry, no pics. Maybe Holly will have some. :)
It sounds like you had a nice Sat. outing. I just noticed the pic at the right. I think this is in Ft. C. in the Fletcher's back yard? I love this picture. It brings back memories of a very fun time for all of you. Looking forward to seeing your paintings. I am sure we will all be amazed. : )
