Not much has changed in the past month, but I will try to update you on the hum-drum of my life. As you know, we went to York the first week in April. That was super fun, as I got to see my best friend from college. I hadn't seen her in about four years. Had a blast catching up with her. Hopefully, it will not be another four years before I see her again. That was a fast and furious trip, with the usual Fletcher car disaster thrown in at the end. Their luck with cars on trips is extraordinarily bad. After that fiasco, comes the week of crazy car pooling/just insane musical car swapping. Aaron rides with me to work, Aaron takes the car to a meeting, Holls comes to work and gives me the keys so I can get home, then she gets picked up later, and everyone is waiting around for people to get out of class/work for all of this to take place, and this happened multiple times during the week with different variations of waiting and trading. Yes, this made for a very long week. To make the week seem even longer, the hard drive of the postal machine at work crashed, and we had to stamp ever &%*$&%*( piece of mail that was to be mailed out(slightly irritated? that's putting it lightly). What made me really irritated was the VP of our department (who has never worked in the mail room a day in his life, and has no idea how much mail comes through there in one day) makes the decision that we cannot send out an email to the departments on campus to tell them the machine is down and to hold off on any unnecessary mail outs. Just madding! Well, thankfully, the hard drive came in Friday morning and the lady came out to install it and help us re-setup the machine. I also had an art show, my first one ever, which was very nerve racking. DBU holds an annual art and design show, so I got to put to of my pieces from last semester in the show. I really felt that in comparison to the other paintings there, mine really didn't measure up. At the reception for the show that evening, my class went to look at other peoples art and to discuss as a class about the show(somehow we never got to the discussion part). All the artist were wearing name tags so you knew who had there art in the show. It's a little awkward when someone asks which paintings are yours and when you point them out their response is, "hmmmm.... those.. are very.... different", or something along those lines. I never felt like anyone actually thought they were good, but just saying what they thought was required. So, overall not terrible but not great. Now all I have to do is get through finals and be done with the class. Needless to say I have some work to get done before then, but I think I will be able to pull it off. The real question is, will my work be good enough to pass the class and not only pass the class, but be of a quality that someone would want to look at it for more that two seconds? I just need to get through the next couple of weeks, and then I will be faced with other questions? Which will be another blog, because this one is already way too long. :) (The pics are the two painting I had in the art show.)

Hum-drum routine, well.... not really.

That's super cool you got to do an art show! Congratulations!! Hoping you make it through the semester fine, and anxiously awaiting your next blog : )
ReplyDeleteRemember that Aaron the abstract hater pointed to your painting and said, "I actually really like that one. I think it's really good." Or something along those lines. Ahem ...ahem...success.
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought your abstract was just as good as a lot of people's and better than a lot of people's in the show.
this is a test
ReplyDeleteI was just seeing if I could comment. I think I found out the problem. : )
