A Semesters Worth Of Work

Painting #2 - It Is Well With My Soul by Horatio Spafford. (Was extremely frustrated by this painting, but I think it turned out better than I thought it would.)

Painting #3 - Pieces by Red (Started out good and then something happened, so needs some work I think.)

Painting #4 - If I Die Young by The Band Perry (My favorite.)

Painting #5 - Specters In The Fog by Hans Zimmer (I think this one still needs something.)

Painting #1 - Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix (Really like this one.)

So these loaded up not in the order I had them in. Oh well. Anyway, this is what I worked on for the entire semester. All of them are 30x40's and my interpretation of the songs I chose. I have never done a painting this large much less five, so it was a challenge, to say the least. I had my frustrating times and times when it just came easy, but more of the frustrating than the easy this semester. My teacher told me that my paintings this semester are more "design" based and don't have that "painterly" quality that my paintings had last semester. Maybe so. It's really hard to cover that much space with the same amount of paint you use on smaller paintings. I learned that you can listen to suggestions and thoughts about your work, but you cannot paint to please someone else, because you then end up with something you are dissatisfied with. Hope you enjoy these pics of my work. Feel free to leave comments, good or bad, about them. Believe me when I say I've heard it all this semester, so there's no way you can hurt my feelings if you don't like my work, and if you do, I'll get over it, which I have also done a lot of this semester. Enjoy.:)
