It 's about that time of year when the decision to move comes around. This year is a little different situation though. My roommate is going to be moving back home, which is in North Carolina. That already makes my decision a little more difficult. I then find out that the place I am working will be closing it's doors for good the day after Valentines 2011. So eventually I will be out of a job. I was already thinking about moving to Denver or Dallas, so I am not totally ambushed with this news. My lease will be ending July 14th, and the rent will be going up considerably in price. I think they would give me a 6 month lease, but again I don't think I will be able to afford it, plus having to find a roommate that would only want a 6 month lease. My boss did say that she would pay me more to help out with rent if I did end up staying, but I don't think she would be wanting to pay me several hundred dollars a month for this. I'm talking somewhere around 2 to 3 hundred a month, again if I could find a roommate. Otherwise it would be more like 5 to 6 hundred more. Anyway, I have been doing a lot of thinking and praying about this situation. What are your thoughts about this situation? Also, my intent to move letter has to be turned in on Monday the 14th. Lots to think about and not a lot of time.
DALLAS!DALLAS!DALLAS!DALLAS!
ReplyDeleteI know that chant doesn't help a lot as far as the logistics but that's my vote.
cheaper living+more job availibility=Dallas
plus Maddy said she really wanted Aunt Tammy to come live in the same town as her.
and if you move this summer to Dallas I bet when we come up we could get one of those small U-haul trailers and pull some of your stuff back when we come home
ReplyDeleteTammy, you know you have a place to stay and store your stuff till you decide. We would love it if you came to Denver even if it was just till you decided what you wanted to do.
ReplyDeleteYou know my vote for sure is Dallas :) I would LOVE To have you as a roomie and could say for sure that we could find some place cheap to live - I just need to know so I can figure out if I need to sign a single lease or wait for you :) Either way is gonna work out for you; ps, I LOVE the background :)
ReplyDeleteDon't forget you have a mother in CS. : ) Decisions are difficult. You know Dad and I are behind you all the way. It all works out even though we are usually surprised at the outcome.
ReplyDeleteI am going to try to offer an objective opinion here and not be biased in any kind of way ;-) but I really think Dallas could turn out to be a good option for you financially just because the cost of living is a lot cheaper here than Colorado and the economy is pretty good in Dallas right now as far as jobs, etc. And you definitely wouldn't have snow in May!! :-) Not to mention all the fam that would be waiting for you with open arms! :-)
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I have to agree with Rachel and say that objectively, Dallas i a really good place to live as far as cost of living and we try to make it fun around here :) I'll keep praying for your decision and I realize that it's not going to be easy to leave Colorado if that's what you decide, because of the family, mountains, friends, etc. Know that God is going to use you wherever you are and is going to work in and through you wherever you decide to move, be it Singapore, or Canada, Denver, or Dallas.
ReplyDeleteNO NO NO! not DALLAS, if we are talking about cheap cost of living move to the TX panhandle! Bovina even. That would be awesome! A few job openings mentioned in the paper here. Unemployment is like 5% here compared to 10% in the rest of the US.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your input on my situation. I will be moving somewhere, but as to where that may be, I am not sure. All I know is that I will be turning in my resignation to my boss this week. The rest will hopefully fall into place. I love it that everyone in my family wants me to move close to them. I am so blessed to be a part of such a great family. :)
